You gotta admit, this is some pretty impressive stuff they're doing!!!     [copyright Mark Rademaker]

"The fleet is cleared of space dock Captain,  All ships ready for warp. Set course for Vulcan.  Ai yi captian! Course laid in. MAXIMUM WARP.  PUNCH IT!"
-Captain Pike & Lieutenant Sulu Star trek 2009

As you can see on the above images, we have come a long way since the Star trek series and Star Trek 2009.  A jaw drop for all space fantasy junkies and gets their wet dream come true!

Harold White and his team from Nasa Advanced Propulsion team is working on breakthroughs and sophisticated space transportation.  Announced in 2012, their team was to design the very first 'Star Trek'  Warp Engine that could possibly take astronauts and even people into deep space traveling faster than the speed of light.

Just how will this warp drive of Nasa work?  The warp engine is based on the 'Alcubierre drive' published in 1994 (below) that will run on exotic matter. The way how this marvelous engine work is

"it warps or stretches the space/time continuum to contract and simultaneously expand space behind the ship, theoretically travel faster than light, and at the same time not violating Einsteins law of general relativity."

Artist conception Mark Rademaker designed the IXS Enterprise (below) as if an actual warp ship would look in today's modern time.  The rings that are attached around the ship you see are additional scientific laboratories, warp engine, and a artificial gravity generator for the inhabitants.

Amazingly, Christoper Nolan's new movie Interstellar (Nov 2014) depicts the new warp engine of how it'll function and give audience a better understanding of how the mechanics of Nasa's new warp engine will operate in outer space.

***Everybody is asking the important and most exciting question of all...

"When will IXS Enterprise be fully operational???"

Collaboration between Nasa, Icarus Interstellar, Darpa, and the Foundation for Enterprise Development will be a 100 year project.  Yes! You read that right, 100 years which was announced in 2012.  The one century star project also includes to build multi 'Generation ships' that will sustain long term population.
